Any requests made from IP's geo-located in restricted regions will be automatically blocked from accessing the Betfair API.
Additionally, accessing the API from some restricted regions (e.g. Germany) will result in no markets being returned via the API response.
Restricted regions include:
- China
- France
- Germany
- Netherlands
- North Korea
- India
- Iran
- Iraq
- Turkey
- UAE
- USA
How can I check if the issue is related to my Geo IP location?
You can use https://www.maxmind.com/en/geoip-demo to identify the specific location to which your IP address has been assigned by your service provider
If you believe your IP is incorrectly identified as being based in a restricted location you will need to submit a correction request to Maxmind via https://www.maxmind.com/en/correction. One confirmed by Maxmind, any corrections will be applied when we upload the latest Geo IP files to our servers, which happens on a daily basis.
Unfortunately, we cannot apply manual whitelisting and need to wait for Maxmind to apply the change, as they are the source of truth for all of our GeoIP info.
